About Modified Starch Cold Process Pasting Gum Powder
This Modified Starch Cold Process Pasting Gum Powder is a cold adhesive formulation sold as a free flowing powder. It has been developed for use by the corrugated board industry for paper liner lamination. It Can also be used in other paper laminating applications.
Advantages :
- Easier application at higher solid content of cold suspension.
- Consistent viscosity at application temperature (Room Temperature)
- Greater tack with good bonding
- Quicker drying
- Improved surface properties
Typical Analysis :
Colour : White to creamish white powder
Moisture : Not more than 8.5%
pH (10% w/w suspension) : 5 to 8
Application : After pasting by cold suspension, is used to laminate the paper liner at the double backer in cold operation in corrugated board manufacture; it can also be used in other paper lamination applications.
Suspension Preparation : Take 110 parts of water in a tank quipped with an adequate stirring device, add 20 parts of Shreebond-PG, stir for 10 minutes to get a uniform suspension, free of lumps. The suspension is further stirred for another 15 to 20 minutes. the paste is ready for use
Storage Stability : Recommended biocides would be Sodium Silico Fluoride (SSF) and/or Para Cholro Meta Cresol (PCMC). Another biocide is Isothiozoline; suitable concentration would be 0.1% to 1% depends upon the environment condition.
Availability : Shreebond-PG is supplied 25kg. Plastic lined HDPE women bags. Shree can supply formulation in liquid form depending upon the requirements of the customers.

FAQs of Modified Starch Cold Process Pasting Gum Powder:
Q: How should Modified Starch Cold Process Pasting Gum Powder be used for best results in industrial processes?
A: For optimal dispersion and viscosity development, gradually add the powder to cold water under moderate stirring. Ensure that the solution concentration aligns with specific process requirements, typically around 6%. The easy solubility eliminates the need for heating, streamlining preparation for paper, textile, and adhesive applications.
Q: What benefits does this modified starch offer to the paper and textile industries?
A: Its high purity and consistent viscosity enhance binding, coating, and sizing in paper production, resulting in smoother finishes and stronger sheets. In textiles, it imparts a crisp finish and improves fiber cohesion without the risk of gelatinization at high temperatures, saving energy and reducing process times.
Q: When should this pasting gum powder be used instead of regular starch?
A: Opt for the modified starch cold process variant when a rapid, cold-water-soluble solution with stable viscosity is required. It is particularly useful where time, energy savings, and process simplicity are critical, such as in modern high-speed manufacturing setups.
Q: Where should the product be stored to maintain its quality?
A: Store the powder in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Retain it in its original 25 kg HDPE packaging with an inner liner to prevent moisture absorption and contamination, which ensures its performance throughout its 12-month shelf life.
Q: What is the process for measuring the viscosity of the prepared starch solution?
A: Prepare a 6% solution by dispersing the specified amount of powder in cold water and stir until completely dissolved. Measure the viscosity using a standard viscometer, ensuring values fall within the 12001600 cps range, to verify consistency before industrial use.
Q: What makes this product suitable for adhesive applications?
A: The products fine particle size, high purity, and consistent viscosity enable strong, uniform bonding in adhesive formulations. Its ability to disperse readily in cold water and provide a smooth, stable paste enhances adhesive performance and ease of application.
